Adaomache

Adaomache was the founding member of the Circle of Marak and the creator of the Shadow Walkers when the circle proved difficult. Only the first members of the circle knew he name - most used his title(s) First among the Circle, Peer without Peer, Equal without Equal when addressing him. He seeks complete and utter control over all things near him so that none can do anything he does not command.

When he was alive Adaomache had rich leather-brown skin wrinkled from the sun and dark brown eyes. Although he kept his head shaved if grown out his hair was black and very curly. As a ghost forever bound to the world he projected himself as a bird sitting atop a set of feet pointing backwards. As the most powerful of X'toltn's avatars he appears as a black silken cloth flecked with gold and silver so perfect it flows like liquid.

Adaomache grew up like many village boys. He dreamed of adventures while working in the fields. His parents worked a plot of land for Lord Ethem as well as their own garden. It was a difficult life, but no worse than many others. One day Lord Ethem visited their village and tried to take his mother as his concubine. His father, Alim, fought back and was left a cripple by Lord Ethem's men. Nevra was taken to his castle, but she refused to do the bidding of the lord - so he killed her.

His father remarried and life went on, but Adaomache would never forgive or forget. On the tenth anniversary of his mother's death he crept into the lord's chamber can killed him. He was caught escaping, but gladly went to the gallows. What happened there was a terrible curse. Lord Ethem's son brought a witch to the hanging and had him cursed to wander this firmament as long as the river flowed. He was forever bound to the Flumen dei Animas.

For countless years he floated along the river until he found X'toltn. The Dark Vampire promised him the power to leave the river in exchange for his loyalty. With few other choices he swore himself to the creature. Under his orders he helped a small culture to kill its neighbors and seize their lands. From these humble beginnings grew the powerful Sorcerers Kingdom.

At first the Kingdom righted many of the wrongs he perceived from King Huddlesford, but that was only the beginning. The nobility of his kingdom was just as corrupt so he created the Circle of Marak to control the kingdom from the shadows. Hundreds of years under the shadow rule of the circle eventually spread the corruption of power to his circle. He appealed to X'toltn for more power and using the living darkness he created the Shadow Walkers.

The Shadow Walkers stayed in the shadows and ensured that members of the circle would not abuse their powers or suffer eternal damnation.

When Aegrin arrived Adaomache was at the height of his power. The Shadow Walkers proved themselves able assassins and spies to keep the circle in line with his orders. Aegrin was and elven hero who arrived in the land with Blackthorn Silverhammer. The two killed Adaomache and imprisoned X'toltn in the sky before moving against the other members of the Circle.

In a few years he killed nearly all of the Circle of Marak, even killing most of his Shadow Walkers. Without anyone telling them what to do most of the nobility concerned themselves only with their own territory and the kingdom fell to civil war. In the Aegrin himself died as well, but that was little solace to Adaomache who was once again forced to wander the river. It had to helplessly watch as his greatest creation fell to its own success.

In the Fountainhead story arc of the Legacy of Marak campaign his spirit was brought to Fountainhead when Keribrar managed to open a a portal to his trapped soul using some of the brass orbs used by the witch. He was not able to come out completely because he did not have all of them for the spell. He did manage to manipulate the shadows of Father Karl and Seirian.
