Aegrin

Aegrin is considered one of the great elven heroes during the Classic Age. He was trained by swordmaster Glynralei, learned magic from Queen Mirasandoral of the fae, and learned scholarship from Zaor of the Golden Centaur Herd. His life was so extraordinary that even the basest truth about him seemed legendary.

For all the heroic acts he did in his life his death was a simple and sad ending. He was killed trying to aid a small tribe of humans and overthrow the first human empire. The empire had misused the gift of magic given to them by the elves and locked powers that threatened to destroy everything. Aegrin died in a field defending a small tribe the sorcerers had enslaved. Worse was the reaction of his followers who misunderstood what happened. They killed those humans believing they killed their hero.

For a life filled with honor, glory, and acts of great good and kindness - his death was the real tragedy.

Aegrin was born on a momentous night which signaled the heroic life he would lead. The Night of the Golden Star happens about every thirty-two years (32 years) when a bright golden-red star shines in the sky. Aegrin's hair reflected that star and looked as if spun from the purest gold. He left his family village young in the company of Elwin, his closest friend. Elwin had been accepted to train under Glynralei, a well-known master of the sword. As he was always hanging around during training sessions Glynralei allowed Aegrin to join them.

Glynralei

In less that eight (8) years Aegrin had reached the point where he surpassed his friend and was growing enough to challenge Glynralei; although he lost each bout. Glynralei officially took him as her apprentice when he was finally able to “pink” her in a practice bout. For the next fifteen years Aegrin and Elwin trained with Glynralei until she deemed both of them worthy enough to leave her apprenticeship. The friends separated vowing to met up again when both were great heroes - Aegrin never saw Elwin after that morning.

For thirty years (30 years) Aegrin traveled the world working to master the sword. He saved villages, defeated terrible monsters, and drank excessively. He was a young man with a natural talent for the blade and easy words on his lips. He lived, loved, and laughed wherever he found himself - never content to stay for long.

Fae Lands

In some small town he stayed with a single lover for two years. Unfortunately a previous love tracked him down and vowed vengeance for leaving her. She was not just anyone, but a Fae Lady. She drug his current love into the fae realms to exact her revenge. Aegrin followed on her heels, but became lost in the strange world. How much time passed he was not sure, but he slew his way through the fae lands until he found the jilted fae in the court of Queen Mirasandoral.

He defeated the Queen's knight in honorable combat and so won the freedom of his lover. The Queen was thrilled with the display of swordmanship and offered Aegrin a knighthood in her court. Aergin was smitten by the beauty of the Queen and welcomed the challenge. Over fifty (50) years would pass while he served and knight and later consort for the Queen. He faced numerous challenges from other Fae Lords, Ladies, and Knights.

While in court he learned the ways of the fae. Their magic, illusions, honor, obligations, manners, and way of twisting the truth. He was not as skilled at the subtle applications of honor, fealty, and obligations - but he loved the magic.

He eventually grew tired of the fae lands and longed to return home. The Queen set one final task for him before he left - he was to kill Yzettil, the Lord of the Rock Trolls. Yzettil had been lord of the trolls for over a thousand years and would not be like his other battles. The battle itself was titanic and is still spoken of excitedly in the fae courts. Aegrin was victorious although he lost his sword arm during the battle.
