The Last Shield Inn

The Last Shield Inn is a large inn located on the Bornheim Trade Route midway between Ulrichstein and the Fuldelf Ridge. The inn itself is a large three story structure made from thick timbers and stone. The inner courtyard is protected by a three (3) meter high wooden palisade.

Gerhald

Gerhald used to make his living off of three wagons that he used to travel along the trade route. He was never a wealthy merchant, but was successful enough. His kids were his guards and his wife the drover. In the late summer of 453 AH he reached the inn and found it deserted. There were no signs the inn was sacked and its inhabitants kills, but there was nobody left inside.

Fearing the woods for the first time, he wintered in the inn rather than pushing on. When the snows melted he decided to claim the inn as his own, a decision his wife firmly supported. As the first caravans arrived he sold his goods, along with

Jaxom

Jaxom has starting working for Gerhald in 457 AH when the caravan master that employed him had the temerity to get himself killed when he was caught cheating at cards. With no employer readily available he stayed over at the inn until another caravan arrived. By the time another caravan arrived, Jaxom had already begun to work at the Last Shield as a guard.

By 460 Jaxom had become the captain of the guards.
