Koén Brandr

Passionate Dakarian Lord of Bornheim

Lord Brandr is a passionate and oft-times hot-headed lord of the realm. His residence in Baymount reflects this with many hunting trophies and decorations depicting great battles. Although he is only moderately skilled with mace, sword, and lance; his desire to prove himself drives him to reckless challenges. He is magnanimous both in victory as well as defeat, heaping praise on any knight that has bested him.

Although his father was a skilled man in the arena of politics, Koén is bored by it rather quickly. It is not that he fails to understand it or dismisses its importance, but rather that nature seems to lead to extremes. He is timid about negotiating deals with his house and lands, sometimes leaving such things to his wife. On the opposite side, once he has decided on a course of action he throws himself fully into accomplishing it. This often makes him seem like the “Sheep and The Bull.”

The Brandr family has been part of Bornheim since the Dakarians first settled upon the land. Their lands and manor are several days east of the city and includes the villages Limbach and Heiligenblut. Koén grew up on his family lands before becoming a squire to Sir Gerren Blute in 420 AH. He was skilled with mace and lance, but not well enough to distinguish himself for one of the Royal Orders.

By 428 Koén was knighted and had moved into the family residence in the city. His courtship of Lady Adelia was formalized into a marriage and added the farming hamlet of Tafern to his personal holdings.

When he first learned about Ælfric he fell under the young King's personal magnetism. This was a cause worthy of his full effort. He is dedicated to seeing this young man obtaining his birthright.
