During the Age of Darkness, Lut was one of Gelin’s most powerful lieutenants. It was Lut that led the first assault upon Selena and without the intervention of the redguard the city would have fallen long before the return of the magi. Lut was powerful and brutal sorcerer who reveled in the darkest depravity; however, he was also intelligent enough to foresee the downfall of his patron.

When Gelin left his city to battle the Magi at the last gate, Lut gathered up his most trusted soldiers and fled to his fortress where he intended to ride out the fall of his master then sue for peace with the Magi. However, Gelin returned from the battle alive and when he discovered Lut's treachery he flew into a rage marched against his former lieutenant alone.

For seven days Gelin called down his most powerful spells unto Lut's fortress-city. He sent the souls of those that turned against him to the lower plane, while keeping their bodies in a mockery of life. What he did to Lut was said to cause the devils to turn their heads away in sickness. When he left the city there was nothing within its walls that could be said to be truly alive; although even the stone felt pain and terror.

Most scholars agree that this battle took so much of his power that he did not have the ability to stand against the army of King Hukna. For this reason many agree it was the act of cowardice by Lut that caused the downfall of Gelin, not the return of the Magi.

This fortress-city is aptly called the City of the Damned and still stands as an open grave upon the Plains of Brass. Only a few twisted and evil beings can survive within its walls without being driven insane; nothing survives during the night. Its twisting passages and tall buildings have trapped many treasure hunters within its walls as the sun set, what happened to them is unknown.

The start of the Chrysalis Civil War saw the appearance of a powerful mercenary group called phoenix_force. These people uncovered one of the rebel factions within the Emerald City, and in so doing stumbled upon some ancient artifacts. These artifacts were being worn by the leader of the rebellion, and had granted him dark power that rivaled that of a Demon Prince.

In reality, a small part of Lut’s soul was trapped within the artifacts and it quickly overpowered one of their magicians. Wearing the armor he fled north to the city of the damned and with their combined power raised the followers of Lut. The rest of Phoenix Force gathered some allies and fell upon the army on the east bank of the Damien River.

A great battle was waged and after an enormous sacrifice, Lut’s army was destroyed. Those creatures capable of independent thought fled in small groups into the nearby woods. Many were hunted down over the next few weeks, but some escaped destruction.

However, that army was a distraction to Lut’s true objective. Lut had fled the armor and was merely using its current wearer to command his army. Meanwhile he traveled to the city of Corvis on the edge of the salt marshes. Corvis was built during the Age of Magic as a center of learning, and is the largest academy still standing after Age of Empires (see Sorcerers Kingdom).

He possessed the Headmaster as easily as an apprentice could command a dog and turned the academy into his personal rebirth. It was already dangerous to travel through the salt marshes without the permission of Corvis, now it became impossible.

What he plans to do there, nobody knows as every scrying and travelling spell as failed when turned towards Corvis. What is known is that it has become a place of utmost evil and the world shall once again run with blood should he not be toppled.
