Corvis

Corvis is a city at the far southern tip of Miran. It had been known for a time as the City of Wizards before Llannoth the Lich King invaded and overtook the city. Now it is known as the City of the Dead.

The land of Corvis is a fulcrum for unstable mystical forces. There are natural ley lines that converge in this place, but they do not form a stable link to the world. Instead, the magic had always been a corrupting influence on the surrounding lands.

The first king of Corvis, Renauld the Golden was drawn to this land with a group of his comrades. He was able to tap into the magic of the ley lines, and he purified it as long as he stayed in close proximity to the fulcrum.

Over time, palace was built over the convergence, and a throne was built within to ease the burden on the ruler. As long as at least one member of the royal line stayed within the bounds of the palace, the magic would remain uncorrupted.

The city was rich in magical power, and it drew those gifted in the mystic arts. A wizards school was even formed in the city, and those with the touch of power came from afar to study there. The city became renowned as a place that both the craftsmanship of objects and the craftsmanship of magic devices was unparalleled, as the creation of magical objects required exacting craftsmanship.

Aside from the prominence of magic, the city's location along the Serpente Sea meant that they were able to tap into a rich trading economy. Though they did not said ships of their own, the port was a welcome place for many traders from other lands.

Traders even braved the path through the Pa'Shar swamps to trade with the city. Caravans linking the wonders of Corvis to Irril and the Bronze sea were a common site.

The city now stands as a mouldering wasteland. Walking corpses shamble mindlessly in the decaying city, seeking living to attack. Any living who might wander in there may see ghasts and ghouls as well. These foul creatures once fed off the corpses of the slain, but now have taken to feeding on the zombies instead. Llannoth mostly stays within the palace, presumably feeding off the corrupted magic.

While it seems that only the dead are within Corvis, the Guild of the Keepers have formed an underground rebellion. They seek to destroy the Lich King and retake their kingdom. They operate in an elaborate system of trapped tunnels. It is likely that Lannoth knows of their existence, but does not feel threatened enough to destroy them.
