Hugo

Dakarian Knight and Keeper of Blackyard Prison

Raised from peasant upbringings to a man knighted for valor and skill-at-arms, Sir Hugo has lived a rich and at times tragic life. While serving in the Bornheim militia he saved the life of Lady Liese who oversaw his eventual knighting. although he did not take direct service within her house, he has always held the lady in high esteem and she graced him with her patronage. It was Lady Liese that insisted that Sir Hugo take command of Blackyard Prison, a job he undertakes with efficiency but little zest.

Sir Hugo is often a melancholy man more reflective of her personal tragedy rather than any situation. He loves his current wife, but cannot forgive himself for the death of his first true love. He is a man of staunch honor and if socially or personally pushed into a corner falls back on the tenets of his knighting. Honor, Courage, and Denotation forge the iron of his soul.

While serving in the Bornheim militia he distinguished himself against a marauding band of trolls from the Fuldelf Ridge. He saved the life of Lady Liese whose carriage was ambushed by the trolls while she was visiting her estates. At her insistence he was accepted as a squire to a knight of her house. Guided by Lady Liese he was knighted within three (3) years, a short time considering he was not of noble birth.
