Huis'nan

The Huis'nan represent both the rathari that live in G'huis, but those rathari that specifically descend from the Hu family. Outsiders, and even other rathari, often use the term huis'nan to describe anyone born or raised in G'huis, but specifically it only refers to those of the Hu clan.

The first huis'nan were members of extended Hu family that migrated from the Escarian Mountains following several years of drought. They found a vast expansive grassland filled with plenty of wild animals and sufficient water. Unlike their life in the mountains the families could claim vast ranges that were only occupied by primitive goblin tribes.

Over the decades huis'nan culture has come to be expanded to all rathari that live within the G'huis range and conform to huis'nan culture. This culture is largely religious followers of the Southern Doctrine and Hu ideas of obedience to the family elders.

All huis'nan are rathari that draw their ancestry from the Hu, Tarit, or Quay extended families. They were either born or raised in G'huis.

The prominent language is Ratharian.

A large percentage (75%+) of huis'nan worship according to the Southern Doctrine of The Wind. The remaining members are ether atheist or followers of the Breath and Bough. Religion is prominent in huis'nan culture with most rathari attending at least two tellings each week. Pilgrimages to their homeland are expected by any adult at least three times in their lifetime.

The huis'nan generally follow the historic guidance of their ancestors as told through an oral history. Respect for the law-givers and those tasked with The Telling rank high among the huis'nan. Fidelity to the family and fealty to the council is the code of the huis'nan.

The huis'nan have migrated to many places around the world. The majority pass through V'eand on their way to a Theodova. Enlightenment is generally regarded as good among the huis'nan so many rathari travel to study among human craftsmen and scholars.

The rathari also hire themselves unto ships from the Sunna, Talarakians, and Zentirovans. The superior eyesight and ability to fly serve the rathari well aboard ship. These rathari have traveled up and down the coast. The serve less often aboard Hashan ships as these are the few vessels that frequently leave the sight of land. The Southern Doctrine holds the holiness of the mountains and nearly all huis'nan do not leave these lands.
