Magesilver

Magesilver is a alloy of silver (93%), copper (4%), and platinum (2%) along with tin and other impurities. It is one of the most highly prized of the noble metals by magicians due to its increased hardness over truesilver with only a small reduction in its magical properties. There are many variations found in the world, most are too brittle for anything but decorations. For those masters capable of truly working this metal wealth abounds.

A cheaper alloy that is called magesilver, but does not have the same properties for magicians is replacing the platinum with zinc. This alloy can cause problems for magicians mistakenly use it in their craft, but it is difficult to tell the two alloys apart on close inspection.

Magic

For all but the largest creations or used by the poorest magicians this is the most common material used in magic. It is only slightly more problematic in magic than either pure silver (99.9%) or truesilver, but it is harder and more durable.

Other

It is believed that magesilver cups and utensils provide proof against poison and harmful magic.

Several different cultures have stamped their more valuable silver coins in magesilver. It is a harder material and wears longer than other silver alloys.

Polished sheets of magesilver are proof against illusions and said to reflect one's true self.
