Great Dwarven Clans

Unlike a modern dwarf an Ancient Dwarf was the nature of the world given sentience and purpose. These dwarves instinctively understood all things and created beauty that was a reflection of its true nature. To the most skilled artisans Earthmother gave forges that blew with her own life - these came to be called the Living Forges.

The greatest artisans of the dwarves soon gathered around these forges and named the most skilled of them the Master of the Forge. These Masters would determine which of the many aspirants that flocked to them became their craftsmen and foundrymen. The dwarves who lived and worked a single forge soon became a clan as each Master sought to outshine the others and so be named a Grandmaster of all Forges. The dwarves had no concept of family, but just as with other natural elements they understood like and unlike natures.
