Creation

Exactly how the universe started varies depending on who you ask and what religion they believe. This section will contain the facts as they truly exist within the universe and leave each viewpoint under the appropriate document.

Before existence there was The Void and nothing else. How long The Void existed is not a question that can be answered because time itself did not exist. Inside the void were two concepts, Entropy and Order, locked in continuous harmonious conflict. One such conflict gave creation to this existence and at its center was the Heart of Creation - simply called The Creator. The Creator gave life to all manner of beings, the most powerful of its children was Krynan, the Great Dragon. Krynan was a voracious being who consumed everything that it could find until there was nothing less in this existence except The Creator.

With nothing left to sate its appetite, Krynan greedily consumed The Creator and with it all of existence; however even Krynan could not consume so much and exploded, causing the remains of The Creator and its essence to scatter throughout this existence. Where its remains fell sprung the Titans and the Celestial Dragons. The Titans, the true children of The Creator, were filled with a power to bring forth life while the Celestial Dragons, the children of Krynan, only existed to consume all things. They fought across the whole of existence with neither side able to completely destroy the other.

Gods and Chaos

In time the Titans defeated the Celestial Dragons, but could not bring themselves to destroy them. Instead they tore open a hole in this existence and reached into The Void do draw upon the power of Order to fashion a prison for each Dragon. These prisons are the many suns that are found in this existence, each one imprisoning a voracious Dragon. To keep the Celestial Dragons imprisoned, the Titans created the gods to watch over them. These gods were each made from a very small fragment of creation and given the task of standing watch over the imprisoned Dragons.

The Titans undoing was born in the arrogance and it nearly destroyed all of existence. They did not understand that Order and Entropy are one in the same, thus they also brought Entropy back into this existence. This fragment of Entropy called itself Chaos and traveled this existence corrupting everything it touched. In its wake it destroyed the prisons, the gods watching them, and the Dragons trapped inside. What was left was simply a large gaping maw that consumed everything around it, including the light of creation itself.

Angered, the Titans and the gods fought Chaos and although many of them fell, they eventually drove it back towards the tear the Titans made in this existence. The could not drive Chaos from this existence, because he was made from this creation, without destroying this existence. Instead all of the Titans except Chronos merged with Chaos and entrapped it within their own bodies. From the combined entity, Chronos fashioned a gate inside the tear and forever divided this existence from The Void. Chronos stands guard over this Titan Gate and will do so until the end of time.

Devils and Demons

Chaos is not Entropy, with only the power to unmake, as it was formed around a seed of creation. It could not unmake the Titans or their gods because it was against its very nature. What rose from those who had fallen were now twisted and warped distortions of their former selves. The fallen Titans, now calling themselves Devils, still had the power of creation - but everything they created was malignant and vile. The gods who fell, now called Demons, were twisted by Chaos into monsters with no desire but to destroy and devour.

In the farthest reaches of existence, where the light of creation rarely touched, is where these creatures lived. Lust, hunger, desire, retribution, and anger drove these creatures to the brink of madness and in that madness they sought salvation. In the center of existence where The Creator once lived lay power, the heart of Krynan was still there - its beating pulse calling to its children. The Devils fell upon the heart and consumed nearly all of it, which granted them power beyond the gods and nearly the equal of the Titans. With this power they tore existence asunder and sought to remake it in their image; however, they did not have enough power to destroy all of creation.

The Shadow Realms

What happened was that all of existence was fractured and nearly destroyed. The part of existence that was not touched by the devils was saved by the power of The Creator, which still lived at the heart of all existence, and was now the providence of the gods - called the Divine Realms. The part of the existence that was tore apart had the last of Krynan's heart at its center and was the providence of the Devils and their demon-kin - called the Infernal Realms. The stygian rift between these two existences was filled by something that was neither The Creator or Krynan, nor was it Order or Entropy - it was all of these, but none of them in constant harmonious conflict. This thing is a shadow cast by all things - and it was filled with life.

As these Shadow Realms were were created by each existence, as they moved closer to the one existence they more closely matched that existence, while were influenced less by the other. Imagine a single tree with two large lights on opposite sides. The shadow cast by any single light was strongest on the exact opposite side of the tree, while the closer it got to the other light the less the original's influence. The area directly around the tree was the most in conflict with either power which surrounded it. Inside the Shadow Realms lived tiny bits of life - neither god nor dragon, but each one a shadow of the power that created it.

The Shadow Realms divides the Infernal from the Divine and will do so until this existence is made whole or consumed by Entropy. Those from the Infernal or Divine cannot enter the Shadow Realms without risking their own destruction, but because the Shadow Realms are fashioned in part from them, they can project a small amount of themselves into it. Through these avatars they can still wage war with each other for control of this in-between Realm.

Miranda is just one of many worlds inside the Shadow Realms. It's sun is the prison of Mir, a powerful Celestial Dragon, and although the gods can not longer reach Mir they still watch over her. Before the gods were able to trap Mir inside of her prison, she gave birth to a single Empyrean Dragon. The gods fashioned a stone prison from the elements of existence and set the daughter to circle her mom for all of eternity. The gods called this world Miranda which means “Of Mir” and while a few of the gods watched Miranda, the rest of them guarded her mom's prison.

It is for this reason that Miranda is considered a very important world to all sides of this conflict as each battles to either contain or unleash the power of both dragons.
