Lake Milloware

Lake Milloware is a small kidney-bean shaped lake that was formed by the bowing-out of the Rinrinwak River, which has changed course and no longer flows into Lake Milloware. Large gatherings of forest spirits occur around on on the lake.

Lake Milloware is a small lake barely 30 acres. The only outflow of the lake is the Lipton River. The lake has no inflows except for rainfall and it has slowly lost volume. The currently level of the lake is less that a third of what it once held. Under normal circumstances it would have disappeared centuries ago, but the forest spirits who visit the lake maintain its water.

Lake Milloware draws many of the spirit of the nearby forest. Their intentions are known only to them, but they gather around the lake in large numbers, especially during the new moon and winter solstice.

The spirits are not hostile to the lake or nearby animals, but on nights they gather they can become very hostile to outsiders. Magicians who have braved these gathers have discovered the veil between the mortal plane and Shadow Realms is thin enough to see through. It can be very discerning to the unwary and more than one watcher has been pulled to the other side.

Silver Bass

In the lake lives a smallmouth bass known locally as the Silver Bass. It is estimated to me 50 cm (20 in) long and just under 6 kg (12.5 lbs). Most of the fish is brown, except for three horizontal silver stripes along both sides. The fish is considered intelligent enough to not be caught by any fishermen. All attempts to catch the fish results in a very violent outburst from the surrounding spirits. The spirits are very protective of the fish.
