Black Chargers

The Black Chargers are an Adventuring Group that first appeared in the age_of_empires. During this time they established themselves as a group willing to do any job for the right price. They would hire to protect a small village then accept a job to destroy the neighboring town. While this is has caused them some minor problems they have never accepted payment for any job they could not complete.

The following is a list of the current members of the Black Chargers: Marcus of Untah, Roland, Silk, and Lady Death. In addition they occasionally hire the following people for special missions: Galron, Sarbell, Jonrin, and Jacob.

Their standard is a black horse sprinting across a green field. This is emblazoned on shields and carried on Marcus's lance (see description below).

The membership has fluctuated over the years as with most small mercenary companies. Some have taken their share of the wealth and left for an easier life, while others died along the path. The three core members of the group are Marcus of Untah, Roland the White, and Silk. Together they make the final decisions, occasionally calling upon other members for their advice, but in the end they make the decisions. Marcus of Untah

Marcus stands around 5'10“ and has long straight brown hair that usually conceals his hazel eyes. He is obviously of Ambrian decent and carries himself like a noble of any number of the small cities. Very rarely is he seen without his warhorse, Skullsplitter, somewhere nearby. He prefers mounted combat and will often seek out trouble just to prove his skills. He has never been defeated in single combat to anyone's knowledge.

Marcus typically wears heavy armors, full helm, and a large horseman's kite. He is deadly with sword, lance, axe, or flail. When forced into combat on foot he prefers using a shortsword and flail, or shield and flail. Roland the White

Roland is a magician of great skill; although he has never been a member of any guild and never speaks of learning from any wizened master. Instead, he learned from his mother and Roland quickly surpassed her skill before he left home to search out others who would teach him. After nearly 10 years Roland re-appeared much older and more experienced than possible for the short amount of time he studied. Since joining the Black Chargers Roland has earned a permenant place in the company's roster. Twice he has saved Marcus's life and their is a strong bond between them.

Roland recieved his title from his love for wearing white clothes. Even during times when the company needs to blend in Roland is always wearing at least a white tunic. Some people has speculated that this is because Roland seems to specialize in Ice and Snow spells. His favorite is freezing the air around the victim and watching them suffocate to death.

Although he hates personal combat, during his time with the company it has become necessary to get close and dirty more than once. In this case Roland covers himself in a protect sheen of ice and wields a deadly ice shard. If trapped Roland will use one of his many items that he always seems to have up his sleeve. Silk

Silk has never given herself a name so one was choosen for her. No matter where she is it is impossible to hide her strange walk or piercing green eyes. She usually wears grey or black leggings and black tunic. She never wear any form of covering for her feet or head. When the company stays over in the city she also wears a brown cloak and carries two short blades at her side. In addition she is never without a small set of claws she keeps strapped to her wrist.

When on a mission she is usually away for the company, either scouting ahead or watching the rear. This is perfect for the other members as they get chilled when she stares at them. The Silk is by far one of the most deadly members of the company in hand-to-hand combat. Her sharpened claws will rip though plate as easily as leather. She is quite strong and extremely agile. Many times she finishes the combat covered with the blood of her opponents, but rarely her own.

The reason for this unnatural behavior is that the Silk is actually a werebeast. When in her human form she displays many of the attributes of a wild cat. When she changes to her wereform she is a large black panther. Although only Roland knows about her secret they have each agreed to keep quiet about the other's secret. Lady Death

A tall dark-skinned woman from the jungles to the south Lady (as she prefers to be called) is the strangest character of this group. While in town she visits the worst dives and can drink any dwarf under the table, wrestle most northmen, and even beat an Atusian hurler at knife-throwing. She is wild, carefree, and the most human member of the company. She prefers bright and bawdy colors and is usually very drunk when the company leaves the town. She is almost never armed in the city except some small knives.

On the battlefield it is easy to see where she gets her name. She will stand behind the group and fire madly into the combat with her Carthin bow. None of the other members mind this as she has never hit any of them accidentally. If a running fight is necessary then she will often stand in the saddle and fire accurately at a full gallop.

As if her archery skill is not enough she is also quite adept at some minor rune magic. Using techniques not commonly found in the Realms she will usually have several special arrows in her quiver just in case. Her favorite is causing the arrow to explode into thousands of metal shards; although most members of the group hate when they hear it whistling through the air. Galron

Galron is the typical northman. He stands about 6' with a a build to match. He has a bright red beard and dark green eyes. He prefers wading into combat wearing a chain hauberk and swinging the largest axe he can find; although is not against using a sword, mace, or comrade - depending on the situation. He is loud and cheerful and is often seen staggering around drunk with Lady.

The company usually hires Galron when they know they are getting into heavy combat. Even though their battle skills are strong in mass combat it is always better to have another sword on your side. Sarbell

This young elven female seems to have little in common with the other members. She is frail and extremely quiet (some think she is mute) unless directly spoken too. She prefers the company of Roland and is often seen hanging around him when they are in town together. Aside from all of this Sarbell is a priestess of Rath. She fled the church after untold horrors took place within its confines. When she is filled with the power of her god she becomes quite sadistic and enjoys playing with her combatants. Several times the company have had to overbear her when when became uncontrolled. Through it all she continues to be in Rath good graces because her power has grown in recent years. Jonrin

Like the Lady, Jonrin also is dark-skinned and hails from the southern jungles. LoSilked on a small set of islands are a group of people called the Atusians. Jonrin was one of their best hurlers and greatly enjoyed the games. When he tired of the competition he journeyed north to seek more experienced players. While he travels around he offers his services as a hunter and trapper. He understands the forest almost as much as the elves do. He has almost been able to sneak up on the Silk, which nearly cost him his life. Although he sometimes uses a light crossbow he prefers the small three-bladed daggers he carries at his side. Jacob

Travelling from the cursed Iron Mountains Jacob is the typical dwarf in most respects. He enjoys drinking, fighting, drinking, gambling, drinking, and fighting. He always carries a large hammer at his belt which he uses to quite frequently. Usually he is hired at the same time as Galron and several times they have adventured together after the job. He knows most of the ins and outs to the Iron Mountains and even some secret passes to the Living Desert on the eastern side. Vaskath

This rather large and imposing draconian has become the symbol of the company. He is an outcast from his own society and is not very well-liked by human society. He wanders the Realms finding jobs wherever he can and has recently joined the Black Chargers. In addition to his impressive strength he is a magician of average ability. He knows countless number of small and rarely useful spells. The big difference is that he uses them in creative ways. Creating a spark that is normally used for starting fires and placing it on a horse creates a certain amount of havoc. The company will probably be offering Vaskath a permanent position in the company when next they meet.
