Tomb of Aegrin

The Tomb of Aegrin is the final resting place of Aegrin one of the greatest elven heroes of the Classic Age. Constructed by Blackthorn Silverhammer to honor his fallen friend.

Blackthorn dug the tomb beneath the simple shop where he died defending its occupants from the X'toltn and Circle of Marak. He protected the entrance with the most deadly traps he could devise.

The burial room is a simple four-sided room with a sarcophagus on a raised iron platformin the center. Each of the walls are decorated with thousands of glazed tiles depicting a scene meaningful to the two of them. At the foot is a simple blue wall of stormy clouds, to the right is the visage of Aegrin, the left is the visage of Blackthorn, the head holds the image of the Great Tree.

The sarcophagus is a large unadorned rectangular base made from dwarven concrete. The lid is cast from a single slab of dwarven steel pined into the base with solid rivets topped by elves standing at attention. It would be nearly impossible to remove without cutting or burning through the steel rivets. A task needing a hot forge as there is far too much iron in this room for magic to work reliably.

Hidden Secret

The rivets have a hidden key for releasing them. Each of the four keys is hidden behind one of the glazed tiles on the walls. When the keys are inserted into the pins the elven statuary can be removed. This will allow someone to push the lid.

Blackthorn began construction on the tomb in 1000 CA, the year Aegrin died, and completed it several years later. He sealed it on the anniversary of Aegrin's death.

Gundish

In Y1008 CA Blackthorn fought Gundish, a Dark Vampire that served X'toltn. The creature was wielding a large uncut amethyst called the Stone of Truth. The stone was used by the Circle of Marak when they killed Aegrin eight years earlier. He drug the still living body to the tomb and sealed it inside an upper chamber in the sarcophagus with the stone wrapped in cloth.

In time the Dark Vampire died as it was cut off from the Everdark and X'toltn.

Legacy of Marak

In the Fountainhead arc of the Legacy of Marak campaign the tomb is discovered first by the Gray Cloaks and then by the PCs. There is a battle and the PCs capture or kill all of the Gray Cloaks. They discover the secret to the sarcophagus and open it. On top is someone not an elf holding the Stone of Truth wrapped in a cloth. They find the hidden latch and reveal the body of Aegrin below the first. He is still wearing his tabard, silver bracer, and carrying his sword over his chest.

The PCs loot the body and slide the lid back on and return the pins to their slots.
