Freija

A land at the very southern tip of the world, Freija is forever locked in ice and snow miles deep. Large trackless plains broken by mountains that dwarf all but the giants of this world. Underground water flows drain into deep lakes kept unfrozen by large vents at their bottom the spew hot gas and liquid rock from the core of the world. Even the vegetation that clings to the barren rock or digs itself deep into the lands bones seems blighted by the land. Even the sun forsakes Freija for long periods of time during the land's long dark.

Even as desolate as this frozen land is there are those that live, fight, and die here. Giants and Dragons make their homes among the sheer cliffs of the mountains, while the Nar-dok and Æsir fight for control of the most favorable valleys. On the icy plains the Alviass live in burrows deep within the snows, while fell beasts trek across the snows above.

In the heart of these mountains can be found Grimrots Hold, a vast dwarven city built within a single mountain. Only the small outposts and fortresses that jut out from the moutain give any indication that it is a tamed land. Cut off from their clansman long before the Brothers' War, the light-haired dwarves of this hold still possess the magical gifts of creation. Here they wait, cut off from all others, until the Earth Mother calls them home.

Where the deepest snows retreat from the land and the vast seas crash against the rocks can be found the only true civilization in this eternal winter. It is along the shoreline that some elves along with some faerie-kin settled after leaving behind their kinfolk. Before a sea of blood drowned their gleaming cities there were those who never found comfort nor direction among the gentle forests and grass seas of Miranda. Instead, they sought out the fiercest lands to tame which eventually led them here. They have changed over the centuries, but their pale eyes and slight features will always mark the fae blood that flows through their veins.
