X'toltn is a dark vampire from the Land of Clouds. He has fought for control over the land from his lair in the basalt rock the runs the length of the Utmarii Plateau. He controls those he can and feeds on those who break loose from his control. He does not want to destroy or feed on all life, but he cannot leave his land until he is stronger than the great Starless Dragon that lives under the mountain.
After being pulled into this world by Æsir the dark vampires fled to the deepest and darkest places of this world. Robbed of their supreme power over all darkness and death they were forced to hide from the gods that walked this land. X'toltn was not the strongest of its kind so he was forced to flee from the others as well. He settled into a large slab of basalt deep under a mountain.
As millennia passed X'toltn grew in power by consuming the animals that passed through his hunting grounds. As night fell he would sweep over his land and grow his power. Never fast enough to draw the attention of those of his kind nearby. Hidden in the largest mountain was a very powerful dark vampire whose greed and hunger knew no bounds.
One night while hunting he came across a being riding a horse. The creature was turning over the soil and planting seeds. X'toltn hungered for the beings power and stalked it for three nights. On the fourth night he attacked, but was driven off. The being was an earth god named Techiuan. Techiuan was a god of hunt and harvest and tended the gardens of the Earthmother.
For millennia of years the two beings fought for control of the land and the death of each other. Techiuan wanted the evil creature out of his garden, while X'toltn wished to feast upon Techiuan's power. The world spun and changed and still the two beings fought, neither able to achieve true vistory. The land changed around them and new creatures came to this world. It was now the Age of Man and they came with magic.
X'toltn's power far surpassed thee humans, but he saw the key to victory in their magic. The Marakii were particularly skilled with creating havoc and destruction. X'toltn sheltered the Marakii and taught them secrets unknown to them. The Marakii grew in power and subjugated those around them.
Likewise Techiuan shepherded a group of humans. His people became one with the land and nurtured its plants and animals. They were not weak and battled the Marakii when the sorcerers trespassed on their lands. The People would not retreat from the sacred lands of their god Techiuan.
Aegrin, an elven hero, came to this land to hunt the darkness. He was no match for X'toltn in battle, but when he joined with Techiuan they proved themselves more than a match. The cost of the battle was great, but so was the result. Aided by Techiuan and his People, Aegrin nearly killed the Dark Vampire. Although it cost him his life Aegrin trapped X'toltn far in the sky where the sun blazed pure and bright. He bound the cage with a perter cup from which the Waters of Life could be poured.
X'toltn was above the clouds and trapped by the sun and moon. He was soon forgotten by all men.
X'toltn was freed from his prison when Keribrar shattered the cup with magic in defense of Quilate who was trying to steal the cup from Father Karl, a disciple of Techiuan.
