While his brothers remained in the east, he oversaw his father's lands and entered the service of Baron [[people:Donat Lange]], Lord Marshall of Bornheim.

 Lord Brandr is a passionate and oft-times hot-headed lord of the realm. Although he is only moderately skilled with mace, sword, and lance; his desire to prove himself drives him to reckless challenges. He is magnanimous both in victory as well as defeat, heaping praise on any knight that has bested him.

+It was the arrival of [[people:Anne of Horne]] and her son [[people:Aelfric]] breathed new life into him. The possibility of Queen [[people:Aurora I]] being pretender who had Crown Prince [[people:Corwyn Reiner]] assassinated. This made the war in the east more palatable for if the Queen was a pretender then the war was ill-fought. What Koén needed was a clear enemy, a wrong to be righted, and Aelfric arrived just in time to save Lord Brandr from his own self-destructive life.
 When he first learned about Ælfric he fell under the young King's personal magnetism. This was a cause worthy of his full effort. He is dedicated to seeing this young man obtaining his birthright.
