Gerhald

Gerhald is a jovial man that runs The Last Shield Inn. The inn sees heavy traffic during the trading season as it is midway between Ulrichstein and the Fuldelf Ridge. Gerhald enjoys the company and when caravans are forced to stay over during bad weather does not charge them extra. He spent years as a drover and then a merchant so he knows the hardship that comes with the trade.

He is a loving father and husband and nobody can recall him saying a cross word to his kids or wife that was not deserved. His son Kal gets most of the switches as he seems to have no ability to stay out of trouble. He was grateful when Poncho, a respected cloth merchant, married Lukea. He hopes that they will settle down and take over the inn from him when it is time.

Gerhald at one time had three wagons that he used to transport goods from Ulrichstein to the towns and villages surrounding Bornheim. He rarely sold his goods inside the great city as the taxes were too high.

In the Dakarian Insurrection campaign Xarth, Brizanthimus, Ian Fist, and Amer Terrante stopped off at the inn to meet with Rakul Shaleem. They were attacked, along with the inn, and Gerhald and his family came to their rescue.
