Luckau is the most northern village of the barony of Ulrichstein. The village sits on the east bank of the Aland River and is surrounded by a stout wooden palisade. Sir Kaufmann is diligent in securing his lands and pays for a few huntsmen from his own purse, in addition to often beating the bushes himself. In its position as the most northern holding of the barony, Luckau serves as the first line of defense against raids by goblins and bandits.
Luckau cannot yet sustain itself, so Baron Ulrichstein still pays for maintenance of the wall and buys the farmer's crops at inflated prices. he does so because the village is important enough to maintain not only as a first line of defense, but to strengthen his hand when he petitions Queen Aurora I for additional land.
Sir Kaufmann has been the only commoner knighted by Baron Ulrichstein, which caused some resentment among the Baron's other knights. While he saved the Baron's life in the Iron Mountains, Sir Himmel finds that more worthy of lands and a title. This has caused a great deal of difficulty between the men, with Sir Himmel often getting the better of Sir Kaufmann.
This has spilled over into the Baron's Court as the sons of both men serve the Baron as squires. From outward appearances Squires Eckard and Tyn are friends, but Tyn's quick temper and ironclad sense of propriety has caused some trouble.
