Aurora I

Aurora I (Aurora Anna Madeline Reiner) is the monarch of the Kingdom of Dakar and Supreme Governess of the Temple of Light. Her father ascended the throne as Reiner IV in yyyy. Aurora was the third child born and was not expected to claim the throne, but when Prince Kand renounced his claim to the throne to avoid a potential civil war she became second in line and began to draw more attention. With the death of her eldest brother Prince Corwyn her father abdicated his throne to his eldest daughter.

Third child of King Reiner IV and Queen Amandeen, she bore more resemblance to her grandmother Anne the Duchess of Rhinehold. This was made more striking by both of their strong convictions and belief in the church. While her elder brother, Crown Prince Corwyn, was visiting the manor of influential lords — Princess Aurora was cloistered in the palace learning about the world from the royal priests. When her mother died before the birth of her sixth child, Aurora sat by the side of her father and was quite influential in the many decisions of court. Her knowledge combined with a nearly uncanny ability to read people allowed her father to navigate the even deepening political waters. While the throne was destined for her brother, the more powerful lords knew that for now they would have to acquire her approval before the King would consider any petition.

All of that changed when her brother Corwyn died at the hands of an orcish raiding party. Everyone knew that Reiner loved his son very much and when his body was returned for burial the king appeared to have aged fifteen years in the span of days. Aurora took on an ever greater amount of the work at court while her father was in morning. Eventually, it came that nobles began simply petitioning her rather that hold the guise of seeking approval from the rightful king. Because of this it was no surprise when Reiner named Aurora Crown Princess and then shortly after abdicated the throne. Now that she holds the true scepter of state her network of allies have even more power.

As Queen she has brought the church and palace closer together, which often drifted apart under the rule of her father. She has recognized their tithe claim to many lands that brought her father to the brink of war. She has even used the royal treasury to construct several new cathedrals into the frontier towns. While she has still not relented on their demand to declare the worship of all other religions high treason, the church is now one of her strongest supporters.

More than simply her personality was inherited from her grandmother Anne, for Aurora also got her striking beauty. Her hair is bluish-black and hangs well down to the middle of her back when not put up in the latest style. Her brilliantly blue eyes are set close together over a small nose and surrounded by high cheekbones. Her voice is high and carried a commanding authority even when she was simply helping her father at court. Even when dropped to a whisper her tone lets all know that she commands their attention.

For her clothes she typically favors purples and royal greens worked through with gold thread and accented with white panels. Although it is well-known that she cannot use it, tradition demands that she carry a blade at all times. For this she usually has the long dagger fancied by several noblewomen, except that her blade is made from dwarven steel the crossbar from elvish silver offset with a handful of firedrops and sundews.

As the Queen of the most powerful nation in the realms, Aurora will usually have no direct influence upon the PCs. However, he laws and actions may cause untold number of problems for them during the course of a campaign. For those that are subject of Dakar may find things even more difficult if they are forced to go against the words of their queen. Depending on the lord that will sit in judgment against them it may be beheading.

For Phoenix Force she represents their rightful lord. Cohen, Ridolf, Hellstrom, and Arianna all came to be knighted as Defenders of the Realm and given baronies in Greenhaven for their deeds. Gul once served as the head of state for a neighboring land; although few take the gnomes seriously. Tharen and Julianna were both given stewardship over royal lands and knighted into the only order open to elves. For this reason, Phoenix Force is under the direct influence of Queen Aurora.
