Shadarri

Shadarri is the most powerful Dark Vampire on Miranda. It currently lives deep under the Abjurer Mountains where it is served by the spirits of thousands of dwarves from Blackfist Hold. The most powerful of these are Rune Mages who at one time sought to control Shadarri to kill their enemies during the Brothers War.

Like all of the other spirits of air and darkness Shadarri was pulled into this world when Aesir pulled the spirits of air and light from their world. It was the most powerful of the spirits that was drawn to Miranda and as such the light of even the moon pained it greatly. With no black star in which to live, Shadarri lived at the depth of the ocean or the roots of the earth. There it stayed until disturbed by the dwarves of Blackfist Hold.

During the Brothers War, the dwarves of Blackfist Hold were under siege by their kin who sought the treasures under their mountain. The would have lost, but the dwarves knew that Shadarri lived beneath their mountain. The dwarven Rune Mages came down with chains of light and bound Shadarri. They drug it up to their tunnels and while it smoldered under the very small light that was found there they forced it to kill their enemies.

Once they were done they chained Shadarri to the top of a mountain where it burned in the sun. The mountain collapsed and what remained of Shadarri fell into the magma that was beneath it. It would have remained forever trapped in a prison of stone, heat, and light - except for Earthmother's rage. She pushed the magma from the mountain and sent her Firmaks to drive the lava towards Blackfist Hold. Shadarri was released as a cloud of ash, protected from the light of the sun.

Shadarri decended upon the hold to wreck its revenge. The Earthmother had turned the chains of light into obsidian and Shadarri used these chains to bind the souls of the Rune Mages that enslaved it. It then killed any dwarves that escaped the Firmaks by fleeing to the surface. Its vengeance slaked it returned to the deep roots of the earth with the trapped souls of its slavers who will serve it for all time.
