Mordoc the Ebony Watcher

Physical

In his previous form Mordoc was a youngish-looking man with< curly black hair and a small beard. His faded hazel eyes were more used to looking at books than women. He stood 5'6“ tall with a very slight build. His hands were delicate and nimble, which help both his juggling and magical art. The powerful amulet of deception he caries around his neck is used to maintain this form on top of his current likeness.

In his current form his body is strong and powerful. His skin is the color of night and gives off no reflection. If somebody looks at him too long they may find themselves drawn inside of him. Glowing white eyes mark him as more monster than human. Only the fact that he is still one of the most knowledgable mages alive keep him from decending into bestality. Personality

Mordoc is a man with a very unhealthy obession to unlock the secrets of true magic. He turned his back on his master, left his family, and has cast magic that would be called the blackest of arts. There is no stone that he is unwilling to overturn, no person that will stand in his way, no boundry he would hesitate to cross in his quest.

As a counter against this nearly instinctual need to unlock secrets, Mordoc still feels the need for human companionship. Somewhere deep within him is a feeling of loss over what is granted to other people, but will never be granted to him. There have been times when he has doubted his resolve to finding the secret, instead looking fondly at settling down with a family and finding an apprentice or two - but each time another scrap of information will float his way and he will again leave in twilight hours.

This seemingly split personality is caused by the magical mishap that cast his body into the shadow realm. Although he was protected by various wards, he still left a part of himself behind. Every year the part of him trapped in the realm of shadows grows stronger and Mordoc's connection to the realm of mortals grows weaker. If this is not stopped, one day he will only exist as a shadow. Mordoc is currently travelling over the Realms in search of the person that has the few remaining puzzles to unlock a higher understanding of magic. Lately, he has been spending a great deal of time where conflict among people are the greatest, for this is when a person's natural insight appears the strongest. Most of the major breakthroughs seemed to have occured when the person wasn't even thinking about magical theory. Possessions Amulet of the Soul

this amulet, will give the wearer the outer appearance to match their inner soul. The amulet itself is small disk about one inch in diameter, the outer circle is a milky jade while the inner is a rough volcanic glass. It hangs on a common silver chain. Shadowcast

This black silk cloth, about ten inches square, will allow the holder to manipulate the shadow they cast at will. Because part of him was left in the shadow realm, Mordoc no longer casts a complete shadow. He uses this cloth to complete his shadow.
