Hooves

Hooves had a destiny among his tribe - a destiny he not only ignored but fled from when the mantle was placed upon his head. In Hooves' world there is his needs and little room for anything else. He wanted to see the world and experience the other lands, not take up the mantle of spirit talker among his people. To this end he fell in with a group of mercenaries, which was great fun for several years - but his Calling become stronger over time.

In time he returned to his tribe and asked their forgiveness. After completing a Trial of Submission he took up the mantle of spirit talker successfully negotiating peace between many of the other tribes of the Bronze Sea. After three decades he passed the mantle on to a worthy successor and again left his tribe to wander the world. He has promised himself that he will again return to his tribe, but the world has changed so much since he left it may be several decades until he makes his way back.

Race Centaur (Kline)

Born among the kline centaurs, whose ancestors long ago turned their backs upon their life as caretakers and instead embraced the riches of the mortals. Although they are no longer the powerful forces of nature that a true centaur represent, the kline centaurs still command the plains where their continue to roam. Hooves had lived in the plains for over a hundred years when he decided that he was tired of playing the same songs and fighting the same enemies. He longed to see the snow capped mountains for herself rather than simply sing of others who made the journey.

So, when the lead was away from the rest Hooves packed up his belongings and traveled west. Where the plains ended and the vast grasslands began was where he had his first taste of city life — it was not pleasant. Aside from the fact that people kept staring at his, only the stables were large enough to accommodate his girth. It was a smelly experience and he nearly turned back for home, but Hooves was always stubborn and vowed to see the great Iron Mountains and dwarven home built across its base.

With each passing day he grew more used to the way the humans worked and while he would never fit into their houses, he did enjoy singing to them in the center of towns that he passed through. Most of the time he made enough coin to keep his moving steadily north, but it was difficult as the grass here was not as nice as that back home. Although he did come to enjoy the human's wide selection of meats, cheeses, and drinks. In fact, dwarven mushroom ale was quickly turning into his favorite.

It was almost a year to the day when Hooves left his home that he arrived in Celinus. This city was unlike any other he ever saw. It was perched atop several hilltops and flowed through the valley as honey over your hands. Everywhere was the hustling and moving of people, each seemingly to go in different direction, but somehow still interacting with their neighbors. The smell was terrible, but Hooves had grown used to the close quarters and continued to make his way into the great city.

With the mountians only a few weeks away, Hooves decided to stay in Celinus for the upcoming year in order to earn enough coin to buy something really wonderful from the dwarves. This would be the gift he would take by to the lead to demonstrate to all that he went to the fabled dwarven mountain.

Like all of the kline centaurs, Hooves has the upper body that looks human atop the body of a large horse. In this case his human body has sun-bronze skin, black course hair, and pale violet eyes. His arms are longer than most humans and quite strong. His horse body is a rich brown with red boots on his front legs. He almost always carries the centaur bow and bone-tipped arrows, but his most favored possession is the wonderful silvered lute that was given to him by his tribes' master poet after his rendition of Lugar's battle during the winter fest. He treasures that as close as any human woman would treasure his child.
