Hannibal Scripanous

Hannibal is a man of quick wit, a sharp tongue, and most unfortunately a quick anger. He does not allow any slight to his honor or that of his family to stand. He will meet his end on the dueling field and that is just the way he wants it - honor and family before all else.

Hannibal is a man who had a wonderful childhood at his father's villa in Alviano. His father was a wealthy man and at an early age Hannibal gained acceptance into the Ishtari School of Dueling where some of the most prestigious sons were trained in the manly arts. When his father lost everything Hannibal was mostly sheltered from the immediate effects as his skill with the sword ensured that few would talk behind his back with any but their most trusted friends.

When he gained the rank of Master Duelist he proceeded to seek out Achille, a merchant he believed was responsible for his family's ruin. Tossing aside the rules of his rank he belittled the man until Achille was forced to challenge him. It was not a duel as much as an assassination and lost him the respect of the masters of his school. Hannibal left Irill rather than face them in a duel and eventually he found himself in the Kingdom of Dakar.

In Dakar he found fighting men, but not men skilled in the manly arts. Instead these were brutal men who uses swords more as clubs and wrapped themselves in more armor than a dwarf. Still he gained many honors and wealth while a member of a mercenary company and soon returned to the Republic of Irill and purchased his family's lands.

Not a man of natural good looks he more than makes up for that with his quick mind and sharp tongue. He can lash the flesh right off someone's back with nothing more than words. His olive-colored skin, dark hair, and nearly black eyes mark him as a Irillian family that has not intermingled with the many peoples of the Western Realms, but instead only married others of proper breeding.
