Anne of Horne

Anne is the daughter of Walther Horne. clan_horne is the largest human clan in Krandryia and Walther is the Clan Chief. She married the Crown Prince Corwyn Reiner in Krandryian fashion and traveled through the highlands with him. She was with child when the Prince was called back to Celinus at his father's behest. He was killed on the road by an orc warband.

After the birth of her son she went to the Kingdom of Dakar to claim her son's right. She has been on the run from assassins sent by the Queen to kill any threat to her rule. Anne was already considered a strong and willful woman, even by Krandryian standards, but these trials tempered her metal. She will be the sword at her son's left when he reaches the throne and kills his aunt.

Anne is a large and muscular woman, standing over six feet with broad shoulders. She traditionally keeps her brown hair long and braided in the highlander fashion. Most days she favors simply clothes of leather and fur, but has been forced to adapt to Dakarian standards while traveling with her son. She can be a simple and practical woman, except where Ælfric is concerned.

In Y445 AH Anne met Crown Prince Corwyn Reiner when he was visiting the highlands with his personal retainers. His father often spoke of strengthening ties with the highlanders, so it was unsurprising he visited Clan Horne. During his time with her clan they fell in love and after defeating a seemingly endless number of challengers, the Prince won the right to court Anne. Anne loved both his strength and compassion and never let slip an opportunity to challenge both before the clan. Her beloved was an outsider and she wanted nobody to question the strength of his blood.

Two years passed before she felt he was ready to face her father. It was a short ceremony where the Prince became Corwyn of Horne and Walther Horne could accept their union. They married in the fashion of the Krandryians and traveled the highlands together. Three more years would pass before King Reiner IV called his son home. Anne was already with child and wanted her child born in the highlands, so she stayed behind. Crown Prince Corwyn was killed on the road home.

When Ælfric was born the troubles began. Assassination attempts, clumsy at first, but eventually one almost reached her son. The clan was preparing for war against the newly enthroned Queen Aurora I, but Anne stood strong. Her son would rule from the Dakarian throne and that settled matters. Her father's most trusted men would accompany Anne on her mission. She would travel to the Kingdom of Dakar and gather allies to support her son's claims.

For fourteen years she traveled the breadth of the kingdom, often barely escaping a village before the Queen's assassins caught her. All of the men her father sent with her died protecting her and Ælfric. She refused to return home, this was to be her son's land and he would rule with wisdom and strength.

In Y460 AH Anne and Ælfric reached the far western lands of the kingdom. In the city of Bornheim she found allies. Lord Koén Brandr became a strong ally and introduced her to men and women that would also support her cause. Ælfric had grown into manhood and now that he had allies Anne could get justice for her husband.
