Karashites

The Karashites are the worshipers of the god Karash. Most of the worshipers have joined with the temple_of_light, but like the tempestuous nature of Karash they remain fiercely independent.

The clergy of the church are required to be skilled sailors, shipwrights, or ply the craft of any other number of duties related to seamanship (i.e. rope making).

Ranks

The priesthood of the Karashites is one of equals, only designated by those chosen of Karash for their purpose.

Chosen

Those who return from the test hale and standing will go through a baptismal the following day. They will be submerged in the pool and surrender their name and previous life. When they rise from the water they will be given a new name. By tradition this new name is consider prophetic as they have been chosen by Karash to serve the seas and storm.

Antragsteller

An Antragsteller are those selected as candidates to undertake The Testing. They are not required to be adherents to the faith or even have any belief in the gods. They are simply those who have been touched by Karash. It would be very rare for an Antragsteller not to be a believer in the Storm God, but not unheard of in turbulent years.

Wasser

A Wasser is a priest who oversees a land without temple. A Wasser is expected to maintain a small shrine or statue dedicated to Karash where adherents may worship and tithe.

The first temples were constructed from only those materials that washed ashore. As the number of followers grew the clergy would build large open air temples with statuary in place of tapestries or other trappings.

Temple of Luminous Kaskade

The Temple of Luminous Kaskade is the largest temple of Karash that exists independent of the Temple of Light. Isolated and remote from the seat of power within the Dakarian church, the enjoys at quiet support from many of nobility of Bornheim and open support from the populace.

Stormships

These holy ship serve as floating temples to Karash. They follow the storms leaving their direction to the hands of the gods. The clerics aboard apply the craft of seamanship in the face of the worst storms upon the world. Only those followers truly dedicated with the proven skills of a sailor are welcomed aboard as crew.

Each Stormship is unique in its engineering and construction. The will of Karash works through the hands of the craftsman as the ship takes shape. No shipwright has even built more than a single ship. Those granted the privilege find the task not only the pinnacle of their life's work, but thoroughly exhausting. Karash is not gentle when he blesses them with his insight.

Stormships are not merchant vessels; although they can carry relics and passengers. Instead these are warships plying the waters in search of those whose presence upon the sea is an affront to their god. Many “merchants” may band them as pirates, but few ships would openly challenge a Stormship for fear of angering their god.
