Aggy Eye Clan

The Aggy Eye Clan is a Dwarven Clan founded in 115 AH as an offshoot of the Felwasser Clan. They settled the lands of the Jinni River Valley and constructed the Aggy Clanhold over the Jenny River. Known for their exceptional glass work, specifically a secretive technique for crown glass. It was this technique that created the split with their parent clan.

In 109 AH Master Glassworker Korach developed a new technique for working glass into small circular plates that were nearly transparent, aside from a very small bulls-eye pattern. Grandmaster Volten son of Sorrick Whitehand demanded the technique be turned over to him, even though Korach's family was not blooded into the clan. Master Korach refused until his family received full recognition in the clan's rolls. Enraged, Grandmaster Volten denied Korach access to the clan's kilns.

Korach took his extended family and settled into the Jinni River Valley. The first few years were difficult, but when the King of Dakar had him make his glass for a royal shrine to honor his mother who just passed. The clarity of the glass was unparalleled and as word spread other dwarven glassmakers ventured into the valley.

In 115 AH Master Korach founded the Aggy Eye Clan when he traveled to Stoneheart Hold and signed his clan in the Great Roll. Each of the glassmakers in the valley agreed to leave behind their previous clan and join the new clan to continue to work with Master Korach.

The clanhold finished construction in 208 AH.

In terms of its existence the Aggy Eye Clan is young among the clans of Stoneheart Hold. The dwarven families have not had time to grown and expand their holdings. Two croftholds have been founded on the eastern edge of the valley, while a single one has been constructed on the west. These holdings are for agriculture and ranching as the central work of the clan is done in the great glass houses near the clanhold.

The clan was started by a Master craftsman and still reflects his values and sensibilities. Those initial families who joined the clan were all craftsmen as well, at least three of them recognized as masters. Crafting both glass and metalwork are the mostly highly respected professions within the clan, which is reflected in the naming of the Jarl and his council.

Leadership

Leadership of the clan rests in the hands of the Jarl, as is common with most dwarven clans. The Jarl is served by the Thanes of the most prominent families. As of 460 AH there were four (4) Thanes. The Jarl must be a recognized Master Craftsmen before the Thanes can raise them to the rank of Jarl. This is mostly a formality as every Jarl has come from Glassworker Korach's lineage, even when the title of Master Craftsman has been dubious.

A trade council advises the Jarl and Thanes on the matters of trade and crafthouses. Three dwarves, recognizes as master craftsmen, serve on the trade council. At least one must be a glassmaker. The trade council is authorized to set taxes for goods bought or sold in the markets. These dwarves and elected by vote from each recognized craftsmen in the clan.

No clansman has even been given the title Impirrick as the clan has never gone to war. There have been skirmishes with the orcs and goblins that live nearby, but these are mostly raids for supplies. Their position in the valley is strong given the size of their neighbors.
