The Great Cataclysm

The Great Cataclysm started at a point in time when every volcano erupted at the same time, even those volcanoes dormant for millions of years. The power of Mir had been bottled up and sought release. What happened was the shattering of the world and near destruction of the cage holding Mir. Over 96% of all species in the world died off before the end of this age. It was the worst extinction event seen on the world.

There is no other time than the dying. When the volcanoes erupted at the same time it blew a cloud of ash that covered the world. Earthquakes shook the earth until the super-continent of Nelphil was shattered. The pieces of the continent slowly drifted apart and the waters of the world rushed in.

The only positive of this event is the breakup of the one continent allowed the power of the Shadow Realms to flow over the land unimpeded. Before this time the Shadow Realms coalesced in small pockets of life. Nothing could compare to the creation of the Well of Life. This well was a place on this world where the power of Mir, Gods, Devils, and the Shadow Realms pooled together. It was a single point in the world where sapient life was finally possible.
