Smiling Blade

The Smiling Blade is a hashan ship that operates in the Isaurus Ocean. Oswald has been the captain and owner since the keel was laid. The ship is flagged by the Jugalii; although the captain also keeps the black flag of the pirate when the need arises.

Like all hashan ships its a carvel-planking hull. It is two-masted with a square rig and spanker. Its high length-to-beam ratio makes it fast and maneuverable allowing it to catch most merchantmen and can carry nearly 35 tons of cargo. A small aft castle provides private quarters for the captain and two officers, crew sleep on the deck. Atop the castle is the stern rudder and sidewalls for archers.

Found only on hashan ships, the Smiling Blade contains a Moon Pool allowing its crew to slip into the water without going over the ship's side. In battle this gives the crew a significant advantage of getting into the water undetected.

In the event of dead wind or when needed for maneuvering, the ship carries twenty (20) sweeps. These sweeps are sized for two humans at each one and would be little use to the hashan crew.
