Knight of the Crown

More specifically called the Order of the Crown. It is a dakarian_knightly_orders dedicated to the crown of the Kingdom of Dakar, regardless of who currently sits on the throne. This is a very rigid and purposeful distinction. In practice this often comes down to supporting the current king or queen of the kingdom, but the knights have acted against the will of the regent when they feel that will is against the best interests of the crown. Each Knight of the Crown must only answer to other knights when they act - they are not beholden to any religion order.

The Knights of the Crown are very loosely organization. When someone it knighted into the ranks they serve one year with a senior knight of the order (not the knight that nominated him). This time is not spent preforming the good of the order, but instead in political and social training. Once this year has passed the new knight stands before the senior members of the order - with nobody but the knight that trained him at his side. He is given a grueling test of his mental acuity and moral center.

All senior knights must vote in favor of the knight being accepted into their ranks - or they are removed from the order. Unlike many knightly orders, a knight removed from the order is not shamed not is their honor smeared. Most knights simply do not have the impassioned required as an absolute guardian of the crown.

Senior Knights

The council of Senior Knights are those knights that no longer travel the realm for the good of the crown. The Senior Knights stay in the chapter house in Celinus, close the throne and the internal enemies who wish to misuse it. The Senior Knights wield tremendous weight in the Royal Court and even a accusation can threaten someone's life.

In order for a knight to be raised to the Senior Council requires a unanimous vote of all current Senior Council knights. Likewise, in order to remove a Senior Knight requires a unanimous vote of all other Senior Knights.

**Lord Arthur of Caemalen, knighted in Summer 436 AH, comes from a small noble family and currently resides in the village of Oxpull on the northern border with his wife. His manorial seat in Caemalen is overseen by his brother, Isidor.
