Four Winds

The Four Winds is a religion practiced primarily by the jundari of Evening Song.

Each sanctuary is led by a Windsong whose responsibility is the maintenance of the physical shrine and to teach the songs for each wind to those that visit. There are many Windsongs ans shrines scattered about the world; although most of them are in either the Iron Mountains or Anor Mountains. Should a Windsong no longer hear the calling or die the shrine will remain empty until another is called to service by the winds.

Each Windsong is free to worship as they choose as are the laity. There are no set rites nor liturgical traditions. The song of the shrines is unique as the winds that pass overhead. The Windsong and shrine are reflective of the land upon which they dwell. Those near the seas could be built upon the sides of a cliffs with flags and ribbons, while high in the mountains might be four great pillars.

The Calling

Each Windsong will do a calling. This song calls to a single wind. When this occurs is whole dependent on when the Windsong feels the wind is speaking through them. The very air in their lungs is filled with the power of the wind. A strong song will carry for miles, heard by all it touches.

Each wind is personified as divine. All of the winds are equal; although each has their place in the world. Should one of the winds fall then the others will as well. The north wind may drive the others before it, but in time it will be driven by them in turn.

Aesir

The great southern wind and creator of the jundari. She brings warmth and gentle rains, spreading life across the lands. She is the balance who keeps Red Watcher and Nighteyes from destroying each other. She is in the wails of the newly born and the first kiss of lovers. She is a six-winged jundari whose plumage shifts and dances in the morning sun. She wears a elaborate headdress with flowing ribbons tipped in silver bells.

Red Watcher

The Red Watcher is the eastern wind. He rises with the morning son chasing the other winds before him. He is the wind of change, the coming of glory, and bringer of the light. He is the winged stallion whose hooves churn the earth and wings beat the clouds. In time even the mountains will crumble before his might.

Nighteyes

The dark shroud who comes while the world sleeps and harries the dead into the winds beyond. She is is the spirit of the seas and the anger of the winds. Disparage her and feel her wrath as the world is uprooted and ground torn asunder. She is not the gentle rains to bless the crops, but the torrential rains that floods the fields, swell the rivers, and cleanse the earth. The night and dark storms are her domains - the bringer of fear everlasting. Depicted as a fearsome bird with dark feather and lightning crackling between them. Under her wings the spirits of the worthy are safe from Ender.

Ender

The killer that stalks the world, the ever-hungry hunter, insatiable, ravenous, without pity. The north wind brings cold and the touch of death to strong and weak alike. There is no appeasing such a beast. His net drags the holy and sinner into the earth where they shall never again see the sun nor feel the wind and rain. Only the foolish worship the north wind for he does not care for worshipers or heretics. When Aesir does not hold him back, he ravages the land eating and killing as he moves. he does not feed for hunger or even sport, but simply the desire to kill. Ender is not personified, but instead seen as a howling and ravenous pack - eyes without mercy.
