Dragon's Head

This shortbow was created by elven bowyer Virrina after she saw a tapestry hanging in the manor house of Lord Gregory of Bastone during a visit. She was so moved by the bow used by the hero to strike down a marauding dragon that she felt compelled to craft the weapon. It took her nearly thirty years from the day she saw the tapestry until she completed the weapon. Along with ten special arrows she made a gift of the bow to Lord Gregory's son Calvin. Armed with this bow, Calvin made the legendary tale come to life when he used all ten of the arrows to strike down a dragon that was raiding his lord's herds.

The bow is made from a special ash tree near the western edge of Ellendar that was once given life by a warder to fend off an orcish raiding party. While the tree has been slumbering since then it still has a touch of the warder's magic in it's veins. The bow itself is ornately carved with symbols of hunters along its length, finally ending in a dragon's head at each point. The dragon's jaws are closed and firmly grasping a string soaked in the blood of a wyvern under the gaze of a full moon. This string will never break or fray regardless of the conditions. When used against a dragon the heads come to life and scream their challenge.
