Fencing

Popular only among the nobility, and those with enough wealth to fawn on them. This style centers on cut and thrust dueling swords with either a parrying dagger or buckler in the off-hand. Its considered a gentlemen’s skill and rarely taught to outsiders. There are expensive schools and masters where wealthy nobles send their son’s to learn.

Irillian Style

The original art, created at the Ishtari School of Dueling, uses heavier sabers and dueling swords. It is designed around protecting the fencer until they can deliver the deathblow. It is still very popular among the nobility of Irill for settling long-standing disputes. The victor of Irillian fencing is the one still alive.

Capellian Style

The Capellian style is an off-shoot that was popularized among the gentry of the southern cities. In many of those lands dueling to the death is illegal, so they invented a style that emphasized first blood. This style is more flashy, designed around a lighter blade to deliver quick slashes. In many cases the fencer with the most style is chosen the victor in a duel.
