Tetrin

A tetrin is the largest avian that has ever existed in the world. With a wingspan of over 35 meters (120 feet) and 20 meters (65 feet) in length from beak to tail. An adult tetrin can weight over 3500 kg (3.8 tons).

The underside of a tetrin is light blue around its neck which fades to gray towards its tail feathers. The remaining feathers range in color from a dark brown to golden color. Most of their beaks are ivory, except the tip which is black.

Male tetrins have a mane of brightly colored feathers that begin at the top of their head and descend along the center of their back.

Third Eye

A tetrin hatchling is born with a third eye in the center of their head. It is believed they use this eye to see the flow of the Shadow Realms across the world. As the tetrin ages the eye will slowly cloud over until it is fully milky-white when they reach adulthood. The eye is still important to adults as destruction of this eye can kill a tetrin. Doing so it difficult as all of the tetrin's eyes are protective by a nictating membrane that is as hard as dwarven steel.

Tetrins nest in the highest mountains, often far above where other creatures can survive. The cold thin air does not seem to hamper their ability to fly.
