Pixie

A Pixie females and males look very different from each other. A pixie female is one the the smallest of the winged wee folk in the Fae Lands. Typically less than six centimeters tall (female = 2“ tall) with thin membrane wings. A pixie male is much larger, nearly twenty centimeters (male = 8” tall), but with no wings. Both are spirits of the great grasslands and gather around the large stones that dot the landscape.

Pixies have short hair and coppery-colored skin. The wings of the females beat so fast they are nearly impossible to see, giving them the appearance of invisible flight. When she does not want to be seen a female pixie can disappear, but only for a short period of time before becoming bored or exhausted.

Pixies take care of the least of the animals of the grasslands. They protect the burrows of bunnies by driving off predators or fetching food. They run with the hamsters and burrow with the shrews.

Society

Pixie society is raucous when they are in the mood. Pixies love to make noise and draw attention to themselves and anything interesting around them. They have a great fondness for musicians and will often call them to their gatherings to provide entertainment. They never harm these musicians, but after playing for days some die from exhaustion.
