Manticore

The manticore is a creature that hunts in the dry steppes and deserts. It is a creature of the mortal plane. Manticores are not capable of true speech nor are they intelligent enough for complex language. They do have a very wide range of sounds they make to communicate with others of their kind.

A manticore has the humanoid head (elf, human, or orc), body of a lion, and the tail of venomous spines or scorpion.

Manticores are solitary creatures living alongside each other only during mating season. Mated pairs will remain together until the kits are weaned from their mother. This generally takes only eight to twelve weeks (8-12 weeks). A female manitore will kit three to five (3-5), but only one or two (1-2) at most survive. The weakest of the kits are eaten by their stronger siblings.

Manticores command a large hunting range, but have been known to tolerate other large predators on their range, but they will not tolerate any other manitcore.
