Fae Gnome

A fae gnome are branch from which the mortal gnome branched at the cataclysmic end of the Age of Legends. Fae gnomes are earth spirits and their natural curiosity drew them to the world during the Age of Legends, specifically to the Black Gates that intertwined the Shadow Realms with the power from the Heart of Mir.

Fae gnomes are small earth spirits, rarely standing more than fifteen centimeters (6“ tall). They often have a slightly pudgy appearance and are well known by the mortals they visit. Most fae gnomes play harmless pranks on mortals, specifically with things they find fascinating. They are not known for hiding shoes or other simple tricks. They prefer something that involves things moving like water wheels, doors, or carts.

Fae gnomes love to play with things, the more complicated the better. They will often take apart new things and then put them back together in a way that “improves it,” at least to them.

Mugorks

The vast majority of fae gnomes are commonly called Mugorks or Mugs. These gnomes are a cheerful lot known for helping mortals, but also playing good natured pranks and tricks. They travel in large caravans visiting their good will upon an area until they get bored and move on. The mortal gnome were created from the large number of mugs that would gather around the gate. Mugs love good music, good company, and good food - but not necessarily in that order. They favor bright colors both in their dress and their wagons.

Wellies

Wellies are the fae gnomes that have grown to enjoy darker tricks. These unseelie often live among the wagons and carts of the mugs and add their own “help” to any situation. It is due to wellies that gnome work often goes awry. The mugs would drive their cousins out of their camp, but they find great fun in the antics of the wellies. This only angers the wellies so they continuously try and one-up their cousins.
