Djinn

A Djinn (plural: Djinni) is a jinn of the Realm of Winds. They are fiercely independent of anything including each other. Not naturally combative in nature except for complicated word-play, djinn are often seen as the most mischievous of the jinn. Their friendly demeanor compared to others of their kind cause many to underestimate the danger.

It is said that anyone controlling a djinn's talisman will be granted three wishes. Often these wishes have limitations, but legends speak of great wishes and power. This is the most dangerous trap of the djinn for it often leads only to misery.

Talisman

All djinn have a talisman. This talisman is not always a physical object, it can be a concept, song, or even a single word. It is believed that possessing this talisman gives someone control over the djinn or that the djinn must grant them wishes. There is a small bit of truth to this, but only because it seems to amuse the djinn. The talisman is what allows the djinn to stay upon the mortal plane, without it they return to the Realm of Winds. A native of the plane must possess the talisman for the djinn to stay.

For those talismans that can be shared such as songs and poems - only one can posses it. If others learn the song exactly from the one that currently knows it the djinn is freed from any control until only one knows it again.

Wishes

A native that possess the talisman can always communicate with the djinn regardless of where they are as long as they can form words. Legends say a djinn will grant wishes, traditionally limited to three. The djinn cannot really grant wishes, but their power is so beyond most mortals comprehension that anything they do may seem as wish fulfillment. Their amusement is often peaked by mortal desire for things they do not possess.
