Vykir

Vykirs are the most pure-blooded northmen still found upon Miran as well as the most northern of the human population anywhere upon Miranda. The live in the most dangerous part of the world and deny its fury. In this cold harsh land of giants, montuk, and dragons they not only survive - but thrive.

The land refered to as Vykir is simply the territory upon which the Vykiran travel. The Vykiran are nomadic tribes that war as often with each other as they do to those who hunt upon their lands. They travel as the herds travel, south in the summer and north in the winter.

Vykir does not have any system of government or rule. Those who speak for the village do so because they are respected by the village. There have been Náčelníkem (war chiefs) that have risen up from the villages during their history and forged a temporary alliance among other tribes, but for most of Vykiran's history the tribes do not work together.

Foreign Relations

There is so little politics in Vykir that even relations with their neighbors is little more than coming to an agreement between two people, not between two nations. Even within most tribes a Vykir can only speak for himself and possibly his family if he is a clan head.

Religion

Symbols like the sun, mountains, seas, and beasts are common in Vykiran culture. However, they are not worshiped instead they are typically used as badges for honor, bravery, warriors, and hunters. They symbol of the dragon is restricted to the Dracos, for only they have the true blood of the dragon in their bodies.

Creation

The world was created by Pykus, Manderthall, Hemitite, and Kyrin. In a titanic struggle the brothers slew the sky dragon. Manderthall took its blood and made the seas, Hemitite fashioned the earth from its bones and Pykus took its fire into the heavans and forged the sun. The three brothers claimed the world as a great trophy to their prowess as hunters.

Kyrin took his brothers to task for slaying such a noble beast and using its body to create a monument to their sin. He vowed to honor the beast by creating life from its death. Kyrin took its power and scattered it over the earth and where it fell strange beasts arose from the ground, except for the power that fell upon its organs. Where the power fell upon its organ arose a race unlike any other. It was filled with the strength and power of the sky dragon and the wisdom of Kyrin. These people were called the Vykir and above all others they were given command over the world.

Shrines

The Vykir do not build any shrines, temples, or idols to their gods. The gods don’t care for the affairs of mere mortals. They slay titanic beasts and hunt powerful serpents that could eat thousands of lands. Occasionally, they will hurl one of these beasts to the land to challenge the Vykir.

Upon being raised from the realm of children a Vykir is branded with the fire of Pykus, immersed in the water of Manderthall, sprinkled with the earth of Hemitite. They are then let loose into the wilderness to track and hunt the strongest game. The more impressive their return - the more Kyrin breathed life into their body - the taller they stand in the clan.

Magic

Magic is considered foul and evil. Only devils, demons, and followers of the dark gods taint the power of the sky dragon within them.
