Tourniki

The largest city in Selcaria, Tourniki spreads along the shores of the Caragan Sea. With no natural deep water port, the land become the largest stopping point for fleets from Irill because of two islands just off shore. The Irillians constructed fortresses on Ago Island and Centrelli Island allowing ships to shelter between them and the shore.

In Y1300 AE ships from Ellendar still controlled most of the Caragan Sea. The ships of the Irillian Empire had clashed with their ships winning only through far superior number. Supply lines needed for the legions pacifying the Selcaria Province stretched to the point of breaking. By Y1320 the legions could travel no farther from Kavasila.

In Y1321 Irillian engineers constructed a palisade on Ago Island that protected three stone-throwers. Mounted on large dials these war engines could pivot nearly 180o allowing them to attack any approaching ships. The following year they constructed two smaller engines on Centrelli Island.

Y1324 AE the Irillians launched their largest fleet. Over 300 supply ships protected by nearly 100 warships sailed along the coast. Elven warships attacked the fleet along its entire route. When the fleet entered the waters protected by the two island only 23 warships and 217 supply ships still floated. As the ships lay at anchor between the islands and shore Ellendar attacked three more times, but each attack was repulsed with minimal Irillian losses. Named in honor of the proconsul who commanded the fleet the village of Tourniki was settled.

Ago Island

This large rocky island was originally covered in trees and inhabited only by small animals. The Irillians cut down many of the trees and constructed a large fortress at the top. This fortress can attack any ship approaching the city from the open sea. The Selcarians have expanded the fortress, building a small curtain wall that extends into a second ring.

From Y139-142 AH a second jetty was constructed with a small lighthouse. Most ships approach around Centrelli Island, but Selcarian warships pass through this island's channel.

Any ship approaching the city must stop and be inspected by the customs officials. The customs office is a stone two-story building near the jetty. Any ship that passes into the harbor without being inspected will be fired upon.

Centrelli Island

The smaller of the two nearby islands. A small stone fortress covers the double-peaks of the island, but a small keep overlooking the island's dock. Two lighthouses on the island provide navigation into the protected inner harbor.
