Shady Tree

The Shady Tree is a three story building constructed of white knotty pine and built upon one of the stone foundations from the shelf in Fountainhead. It is an elf-owned tavern and primarily visited by the community of Great Elf that live in the city; although none are turned away. Inside the tavern is a large nearly 20 foot (20' or 6m tall) tree with an expansive bough.

Although the kitchen is small the tavern serves foods they have gathered in the market prepared with their own blend of spices. It is not the food or drink that bring people to the Shady Tree, but companionship. There is a strong sense of community inside this tavern that draws Great Elves here.

The foods are simple fares light on the meat with plenty of vegetables and wine sauce. The cooks makes her own sauces and spices that she uses to great effect. She makes but a single meal for all to eat the only question is how much a patron wants that evening.

Patrons are not allowed to sleep for the evening. They rarely serve drink enough for someone to not make it home and close up well before the final sun touches the stone. For those who have managed to linger they will be drug to the house across the street where the mistress will take in stragglers for a small price.

Three stories tall on the outside, not including a small roof terrace. The entire structure is made of oil-treated white knotty pine wood with small accents of decorative stone. Large alleys are located on both sides and the back garden is wrapped with a short stone fence.

First Floor

In the center-front of the room is a large potted tree. The top of its bough reaches midway into the second floor. It is well-tended and although a deciduous tree it never loses its leaves.

In addition to a scattering of tables there are two small fireplaces and a standing bar around the back and one side of the building

The Kitchen is simply for the preparation of the final meal. There is only a very small hearth for warming food. Most of the food is bought and then stored in the kitchen until needed.

There is no access to the tunnels beneath Fountainhead, but instead an enchanted cold locker. A frozen spirit is kept bound in the basement.

Second/Third Floor

The second and third floor are balconies of woven green branches just wide enough to a good-sized table and room to get around. The area near the outer wall is cleared for people and serving staff to pass through

The second floor slightly kicks in on the wall facing the road which makes room for a balcony overlooking the road. Guests occasionally mingle here.

Terrace

There is a small roof terrace available for very special guests. It offers a measure of privacy even though it is completely exposed to the outside. Wind spirits ensure that nobody's voices carry beyond the terrace nor are they clearly visible from outside the terrace. In addition the spirits protect from adverse elements
