Mākstag

Located on banks of the Mäk River, this town has changed a great deal over its existence. It was always a small hunting village until the Brund discovered a vein of copper in the nearby hills. Now it is large enough that merchant wagons will visit at least twice a year. The population is a mix of Brund and dwarves from to work the mines.

This town was originally a small hunting village of several Daconians families. The river provided them with fresh water as well as good hunting grounds when the herd would come to eat. During the summer the ground was fertile enough for some crops. Although the Vykir were a constant threat, the village remained fairly safe until a company of Brundswag warriors desired the area. With only fortified houses to retreat into, the villagers were quickly defeated and the survivors sent back to the western slave pits.

The remains of the town stayed vacent until several Vykir families moved to the area to escape a plague that was striking down their people. While a few people in the village died, most thrived in this rich land. Unlike the Daconians, the Vykir constructed a central watchtower surrounded by a strong pallisade. So, when the Brund again came to this area the Vykir simply retreated to the tower and drove the soldiers away.

This act simply drove the Brund to more extreme measures. They arrived on summer with catapults and shattered the Vykir's wall. With the wall breached the Vykir were quickly trapped and buthered. With most of the tower intact, the Brund commander had his men rebuild the fort and stationed several of his men to watch the area. This temporary position soon grew permenant as the months passed to years. It was the discovery of a vein of copper that drew several people to the area.

That was over twenty years ago, now this is a town of over 200 people that hunt the lands and work mines. The old watchtower and wooden pallisade has been replaced by a partial stone pallisade and manor house. Almost thirty houses dot the landscape where only a few stood before.

Currently this town falls under the control of Brundswag and Jarl Rasputin Frostson. The local town is currently ruled by the Warlord Yuri with a strong hand. He owns the mines; although everyone that works the mine gets 1 pound for every 20 they extract for their wages.

Military

Because the town is not very wealthy they do not have any skilled soldiers to help man the walls. Instead, the locals are paid by Yuri for each day they spend guarding the walls or manning the watchtower. Most of the military comes from the necessary survival skills developed in this harsh environemt. The pallisade is enough to hold most people, with the helpless taking shelter in the manor house. There is a cold well in the manor's cellar and enough supplies to withstand a siege for several weeks. Economy

The hunting is enough to sustain the people, but not sufficient to puchase the goods necessary to live comfortably. Instead, this wealth flows from the copper mines. As most families have several men that work the mines they can bring home a significant amount to buy the things they need from the traders that pasa through. Most traders know of the copper mine so they always check the barter prices of copper before they visit.
