Hellbock

The town of Hellbock has long been the Baronial holding of the Himmel family. Its currently Baron, Lord Lothar Himmel took over the seat in 448 AH upon the death of his father. Hellbock is a prosperous mining town with long worked lead and silver mines. In 457 the town opened up a new limestone mine with great promise.

In 1905 AE the Dakarians built a series of keeps along the hills north of the Asharik Forest. The Redclaw Tribe had long lived on this land and fought to protect it. Heilwatch was a pivotal keep that controlled the Nathaniel River. By 1917 the wars had been won and the orcs retreated into the Iron Mountains. The crown the Earldom of Uthar to hold these new lands. The Earl named Sir Hathis Bock as his bailiff overseeing the keep at Heilwatch.

In 114 AH the town of Hellbock had grown around the keep named in honor of its founder. The Earl named Lord Orrick Himmel as Baron of the town, investing him with all hereditary rights of the title.

In 350 AH silver was discovered which greatly increased the wealth of the town. Baron Himmel used the additional wealth to build a new baronial manor and extend the wall.

The town is built upon the remains of Heilwatch, a small keep used during the wars with the Redclaw Tribe. The land is heavily wooded with sharp rolling hills and cut valleys.

The town is held by the Baron of Hellbock, currently held by Baron Lothar Himmel. A small town council of three men elected by free-holders and master craftsmen serve the baron.

The Himmel family have long been supporters of the Temple of Light with a personal shrine to Byrne constructed in 403 AH in the market square.

The lead and silver mines provide a steady source of income along with rich timbering in the land. There are several nearby farming villages along the land is more suited to herding. Sheep and goats are the most common.

The town is still responsible for shielding the northern lands of Dakar from the wilds of the Iron Mountains. The Nathaniel River is still important for trade and security. The lands north of the town are still considered unsettled and frequently subject to raids from the Redclaw Tribe. This has brought in people with a frontier mentality; although they are not isolated from the larger settlements to the south.
