Garrogh Tribe

The Garrogh Tribe is an orc tribal society that lives in the northeastern valleys of the Iron Mountains north of Krandryia and the Broken Shield Clanhold. The Garrogh live in small villages ruled by the strongest among them. The Garrogh will raid each other as well as their neighbors when opportunity arises. At not point in the tribe's history has a leader rose up the command more than a few villages.

The Garrogh practice very simple agriculture, relying mostly on hunting and herding. They will often raid the Goth, Broken Shield, Krandryia, and any others crossing near their territory.

Darvblood

The largest collection of Garron families. Darvblood, bastardization of Dwarf-blood, is ruled by six of the largest families as a Council. Each of these Headmen rules in matters where family wars against family; otherwise each family deals with issues themselves. Among the six are the only families where Headmen will pass down the title to their sons. A wise headman will have many sons and select the strongest among them.

Gettle

Sitting on the border of the Broken Shield Clan territory, these were the families or primarily waged war with the dwarves for control of the Heron River. None of the families have forgiven the dwarves, but they will need more warriors to sack the holds that span the river.

Families are small atomic units consisting generally of a strong male (Headman) and his harem. The strongest woman of the harem is the First Mate and serves to keep the other women under control. The women are not slaves, they are free to leave the harem to seek out a stronger mate. A old Garron saying is that Women determine a man's strength. Young men will seek out strong rulers and like the women free to seek out a different family.

Only the young daughters are restricted. They are kept by the women of the harem until the girl flowers. Once that happens the First Mate will arrange for the daughter's bedding with a male of her choosing. If the headman disagrees with his First Mate's choice he male kill the girl instead of allowing the bedding. Once the daughter has been bedded she is a woman and free to chose her family.

Most families are scattered across the tribal territory, but where they gather in larger numbers they become akin to human villages.

Magic

Those orcs capable of magic or channeling the power of the gods have a special status among the family regardless of their sex. These men and women are among the family to guide and serve the Headman. All those capable of these feats are restricted from having children or bedding partners.
