Crofterton, Fountainhead

Crofterton is a neighborhood in Fountainhead known for the more wealthy working class. The guildsmen and their families live in this neighborhood in relative luxury compared to most of the city.

The district is in the upper-middle of the shelf and bisected by the Grand Road. Comprised of the most skilled craftsmen and even a few people who claim lineage of nobility. The district is all newer construction and while not as solid as the Temple District the buildings are solid and the tradesmen well cared. This is a very isolated community where strangers are encouraged to move along rather than dawdle - get your business and then get out.

Legacy of Marak

In the Fountainhead arc of the Legacy of Marak campaign the PCs were harassed as they passed through this neighborhood. Twice Keribrar received a hard “welcome” and ended up beaten in a gutter. This came to a head the day following a large fight between those lead by Gabor and the Fae in the city. Thorne, seconded by Kukla called out Janos and verbally called out his behavior. The old man was prepared to die for his cause, but they left him abandoned.

The district if bisected by the Grand Road. The Gilds and Sumton are north of the Grand Road, while the Brewery District and Lowery are south.

Gilds

The largest and most expensive houses in Fountainhead. Each on takes up the space of three other houses and includes a generous garden having raised beds for flowers or vegetables. No houses in this area can change ownership without the approval of the Council of Guildsmen who oversee the district.

Brewery District

These are businesses and include the only business owned by a non-human. Ragash runs Ragash's Brewery - she is an orc and everyone that works there is an orc, so they keep troublemakers at bay.

Sumton

While the houses are not as large as in the Gilds, those in Sumton houses are still bigger than most in the city. Well-maintained by the skilled craftmen and merchants that live here. The roads are broad and kept clean.

Lowery

The cheapest houses are those running in a short moon shape dividing the better houses from the gang territories. The houses are built right next to each other providing only a small raised bed for food. The streets are small with most of the buildings overhanging to road. This lends the distract the look of maze of tunnels with sunlight only reaching the street in patches.

The Council of Guilds works hard to keep this neighborhood not just limited to the wealthy and skilled crafters, but keep out all non-humans.

With no pre-made foundations the houses have no access to cold storage beneath their house. Instead the houses represent the most avant-garde construction in the city. There is no overarching sense of style of design. Each builder seems intent on constructing something better than the neighbors.

The layout of the district is in small not-quite squares with roads running along the edges. All roads going east-west are wide enough to support a wagon.
