Abjurer Mountains

The Abjurer Mountains is the longest continental mountain range found anywhere on Miranda. It is a continual range of highlands along the eastern coast of Aquanius. The range is over 8,000 km long and between 300 to 700 km wide. The average height of the mountains is about 3,500 m.

The Abjurer Mountains were formed by Plate tectonics which pushed the Maritic Ocean plates beneath the Aquanius plate. The western edge is bounded by several large Sedimentary basins which divide the Abjurer from the western coast - the eastern edge is at the Maritic.

Volcanoes

There are many active volcanoes in the Abjurer Mountains. There are over one hundred (100) known volcanoes in this range; although less that 30 are considered major enough to cause massive eruptions. At least 10 of the volcanoes are still considered active enough to erupt. The remaining active volcanoes are cause little more than lava flows.

Mining

The Abjurers have rich veins of ore, which has drawn many people to this area. There are a wide variety of minerals found but copper, tin, silver, gold, and iron are the largest deposits.

Living Shadows

One of the longest known myths about the mountains is the belief that the shadows move on their own instead of with the sun. This myth has been carried by so many of the people that lived in this area it is now considered a part of the mountain lore instead of just one culture.

In truth the shadows are alive. When the jundari were brought to this world so came the Shadow Lords. Deep in the Abjurer Mountains lives one of the most powerful Shadow Lords, a great dragon called Yarmmack. He is so powerful that he remains trapped by even the reflection of the sun from the moon. Only during times of the new moon or a total eclipse can he wake from his sleep. Although he cannot move his power has spawned many Shades that live in these mountains and the surrounding land.

Firecrag

Once one of the dwarves richest sources of gemstones and precious metals, it was abandoned long before the Age of Man for reasons known only to the dwarves. Currently the impressive hold and its great halls are only used by those who would risk all for the rumored wealth. Many have passed through the doors, but very few have returned.
