The **Horsemaster of the Shadow Herd** is an [[creatures:Ifrit]] who dwells on the Great Plains of Fireweed in the [[lore:Realm of Fire]]. He is has been accepted by one of the largest herd of [[creatures:Nightmare]] on the realm. The herd is led by a mare named //Dancing Fire in the Darkness//. While the Horsemaster is accepted by the herd Dancing requires that he run behind the herd when it runs as its least member.

In 462 AH he was challenged by [[people:Xarth]], the mortal champion of his people. The champion bested him in a battle of strength and power; thus earning the right to a horse from his herd. //Dancing Fire in the Darkness// allowed the champion to ride //Black as the eyes of the Dead//, simply called Deadeye.
