===== History =====

The origins of the clan began in Y1280 [[lore:AE]] when the orcs of the [[atlas:Garrogh Tribe]] attacked the dwarven villages along the [[atlas:Heron River]]. For nearly a decade the dwarves and orcs fought and died over the river until Raganar, Clan Chief of the Garrogh, was killed; Ittir Shieldbear, the dwarf that killed him, died the next day of wounds suffered during the battle. The orcs retreated and the dwarves built a hero's pyre for Ittir. The surviving families came together and joined as one clan named Broken Shields for the many shields that littered the ground.
