====== Elder Tree ======

The Elder Tree is not a tree that exists in any physical form. Instead it is the roots, branches, and bough of the [[Shadow Realms]] as it winds its way through the [[dominion]] of [[Miranda]]. Many different beings have called it many different things over the ages, but because [[creatures:elf|elven]] history is so tightly bound to the history of the mortals on Miranda their name for it has stuck.

Unlike a real tree, the Elder Tree is not really alive in any sense that would be recognizable. It is teeming with life the feeds upon it, but it is not really alive. It is the power of life, [[creation]], death, and [[un-life]] all interwoven within itself. The countless living sparks within the tree is the true measure of its power.

The Great Tree was created with [[people:Ellowyn]] took a small measure of power from the Elder Tree and imbued it with her own life - creating a tree that was planted on Miranda. From that time on her life is bound to the life of the tree - as one wanes so does the other. This single sacrifice allowed the elves to forestall the blight that cursed them with mortal failings.
