====== Lich ======

A **Lich** is a powerful [[creatures:undead]] creature embodied with a spirit or soul. A Lich typically results from someone skilled enough in magic to bind their soul to a [[wp>phylactery]] rather than passing on to the afterlife. As long as the phylactery still holds their soul they can protect a measure of their spirit and possess a body. Only the most powerful could split their soul into more than one phylactery, but legends speak of seven being possible.


===== Description =====

With only a small measure of their spirit inhabiting the body it will slowly decay. When newly possessed it would be possible for a Lich to walk among people with little notice. Regardless they are not living and have difficulties with things of the [[lore:Divine Realms]] like sanctified objects, holy ground, or divine power. Animals often react poorly around a Lich; although the more intelligent beasts like dogs can be trained to tolerate them.
